Plastics Machine Rebuilding: Increase the Productivity of Your Existing Equipment by 30%! Sounds Crazy?

R & B Plastics Machinery just rebuilt a 1988 Bekum 121 shuttle machine and went well beyond the standard machine refurbishment. The machine was completely torn down to the bare frame, repainted, and rebuilt replacing all worn or damaged components. But they did not stop there. They installed all new Rexroth proportional hydraulics controlled directly from the Siemens Step 7 PLC control, a new air cooled extruder package, full ANSI compliance upgrades, and a new R & B developed Parison Programmer, also integrated right in to the PLC. In addition, they equiped this machine with another of R & B's latest technology developments, "Electronic Camming" (patent pending and not available from any other supplier) linking various machine movements together based upon position enabling them to eliminate unnecessary movements that cost time.

The combination of these improvements resulted in reducing the cycle time of the machine by a whopping 30%! And best of all, these improvements were made for less than half the cost of a new machine resulting in an investment that completely paid for itself in less than one year!

How's that for a Return on Investment?
